With the advent of a few new parts in the game, I think we have to get the names changed up a bit to make a bit more sense for categorization purposes.
MINIs to MG (Machine Gun category)
MGs to BR (Assault Rifle to Burst Rifle category)
BTR (Rifle to Battle Rifle category)

CHGN = Chain Gun. Unless there’s a little dude operating the weapon with a handcrank, it’s not a gatling gun.
Assault rifles are already frequently refered to as ARs, so I’d rather see AR rather than BR (plus when BR is said out loud it could often sound like BTR, that’s bad).

If we’re comparing weapons to real world counterparts it would actually be better to call them Vulcans (which are basically modernised gatlings).
But there’s a chassis with that name already.

A Vulcan is just slang that comes from a specific model rotary auto cannon though and wouldn’t encompass other similar-usage Heavy Machineguns that may be added to the category. I like the category of “Heavy Machineguns” right now. I don’t mind the name of the weapon. It fits well enough.
The in-game usage of the weapons is like the intuitive systems of other games and real life with HMGs, LMGs, and ARs which players understand right away, so why not stick with that instead of trying something so different that people have to learn.
I think we should have “assault rifles” and “battle rifles” as the categories. The difference is on par with the real world difference between say the M16, L85, AK74 “assault rifles” and “battle rifles” like the AR-10, FAL, G3, SCAR-H, etc.
Similarly, quad-stub doesn’t really mean anything to anybody that hasn’t been playing this game before. At least RKT-QUAD gives you a hint at what it is.April 29, 2018 at 2:19 PM #145609
By that logic neither does x quad and hd quad. If someone clicks on the rocket subcategory and can’t figure out that any of the weapons inside the rocket subcategory are rocket launchers, there’s something wrong horribly wrong.
RKT quads are referred to as “quad rockets” but when a new player jumps into the garage to find the quad rocket, he’ll immediately notice that the entire part category is named quad (quad-z, quad-160, etc).
Quad stub at least follows the naming convention of the other rockets and you can refer to them as stub rockets.April 29, 2018 at 2:23 PM #145610
