State of the Game : Thankful in 2017

So much has happened in 2017 it would be impossible to list it all.

Most of all, I am thankful for the community that has formed around M.A.V. and the people that have stuck around, year after year, ensuring everything kept moving forward.

To celebrate, I have a few community oriented updates that will be arriving with the November update. While the update is not out today, I can share one key feature that you can enjoy next week.

While these might seem like normal screen shots, they are a bit special. No UI, angles not possible with the normal camera, could it really be?

Yes, yes it is. MAV is getting an official free camera mode that allows full movement throughout the level , with no UI! This will allow you to take screen shots that are more artistic, record better meme videos, or do commentary of battles as the play out. In single player, all you need to do is press F7 and your camera pops free. You can toggle between controlling the camera and your MAV with the left Alt key.

In multiplayer, free camera mode is disabled by default. This is to ensure competitive games can stay that way. A new server command has been introduced, /freecam, that will allow anyone to enter free camera mode. This toggle is reset after every round.

I am incredibly thankful of M.A.V., what it has done for me, what it has taught me about myself, and what it will become.

  1. Can you change that from a boolean to something with more control?
    0 = no freecam, 1 = admin only, 2 = admin and spec=username;username;username, 3 = anyone.

    What happens with your mav? AI control? You controlled? explodes?

    Can we load in as spectator instead of a team?

      Not for this update but I will consider it for the future.

      When you are in free cam your MAV sits still. You can toggle control between the camera and your MAV.

      Dying has no effect on your free camera use.

  10. This is me doing my pre-bug testing. Good chance when we’ll be filming Siege matches in Multiplayer, we’ll self destruct and then go to free cam from spectator mode. Make sure that doesn’t cause any issues.
