State of the Game #122: Siege Mode Update

Welcome to another State of the Game! So, what have I been up to this week?

Siege mode! As part of the commander update, I wanted to get siege mode to a more ‘true’ experience of what M.A.V. should be all about. Arena is fun, with the respawns and constant action, but the meat of M.A.V. is the planning and more intense moments that can only come when the stakes are a little higher.

So, Siege mode is now a SINGLE LIFE game mode. That means, once you are disabled, that is it. You can spectate, but you are done for the match. This will alone will make the cannon duels significantly more exciting, as well as allowing all the other roles to more properly play as intended.

Siege mode is also available as a single player game mode now. This means you can practice playing against the AI (though your team is a little stacked right now, since it’s 4v3). This is staying true to my promise that all game modes will be available in both single and multiplayer modes.

As for other developments, I have continued to work on the back story of M.A.V., fleshing out more manufacturers and planning additional concept art. A new manufacturer reveal will be happening soon 🙂

Also, I am very close to receiving the first batch of sounds. I am hoping to get these implemented fairly soon after getting them.

In general though, my focus for the next week will still be on siege mode. There are still several bugs that need to be fixed, as well as improving the lobby system and expanding the map sizes.

Well, that is all for this week. Check back next week for more news!
